POETRY COMPETITION 2024 RULES

1. Entry to the competition is open to people older then 21 years.

2. In each city the competition closes 48 hours before arrival of the Poetry Cab. Entries received after this deadline will be rejected.

3. Each entrant may make 1 entry. This is one poem. 

4. Each entry must be a poem of no more than 28 lines (included blank lines) about one of the 64 cities / towns along the route of the Poetry Train where the Poetry Cab have to pick you up

5. Each entraint have to pay $ 10. Without we don’t judge.

6. All entries must be submitted through the contact form on the Poetry Cab website (www.poetrycab.com). Each entry must give:

     the entrant’s name;
the entrant’s date of birth;
     the entrant’s complete adress;
     a contact email address;
     the title of the poem;
     the month and the year of the poem 

7. No postal entries will be accepted. 

8. By entering the competition, entrants agree to abide these rules 

9. Judges will be appointed by LA Poetry Beach Festival. Their decision will be final, and no appeals will be considered. 

10. Poetry Cab reserves the right to amend these rules if it is deemed necessary to do so.

11. Entries must be submitted under the entrant’s real name.

12. Poetry Cab cannot accept responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant.

13. The competition and rules are governed by American law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the American courts.

14. In accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act, entrants’ details will be held on a secure database by Poetry Cab and will not be released to any third party without entrants’ explicit and written consent.

15. Poems must be entirely the original work of the entrant. Entries must never have been published, self-published, published on any website or broadcast in any form nor currently entered in any other competition before April 1st, 2024.

16. All 64 selected poets, one poet a city/town, must recite their selected poem in the poetry cab and this will be filmed to be used in one or more Poetry Cab exhibitions. Excerpts of those films will be used on our Youtube channel to promote the Poetry Cab and L.A. Poetry Beach Festival. If a poet is not able to read his or her poem in the Poetry Cab then he or she will not be selected for Poetry Cab 2024 and it’s anthology.

17. The prize for the 64 selected poets is a ride on the Poetry Cab and all selected poets will also get an printed Poetry Cab anthology.

18. The copyright of the selected poems remains with the authors. However, the selected poets, by entering the competition, grant Poetry Cab the right for ever to publish their poems in art, print, video and/or other Poetry Cab related media.

19. Name, gender, age and place of residence (only city, town and state) of the winners will be posted in the anthology, at the exhibition, the Poetry Cab website and/or other Poetry Cab related media.
